For over fifteen years, Michael dedicated himself to public service as a Deputy District Attorney in Marin County, building a career defined by a commitment to truth, fairness, and accountability. He was drawn to public service by a belief that the law exists to protect people, particularly those who need it most, and that commitment shaped everything he did in the courtroom and beyond.
A significant portion of Michael's public service career was spent in the Special Victims Unit, where he handled felony sexual assault, domestic violence, and crimes-against-children. During this time, he also served as Team Coordinator, supervising two fellow Deputy District Attorneys and managing the department's full caseload. This work demanded more than legal expertise. It required genuine empathy, meticulous attention to detail, and a thoughtful, trauma-informed approach to working with witnesses under the most difficult circumstances. The ability to uncover the truth while treating every person in the process with dignity and care is something Michael carries directly into his workplace investigation practice.
Continuing his commitment to public service, Michael served as Head of the Consumer and Environmental Protection Unit at the Marin County District Attorney's Office, leading high-stakes investigations into corporate misconduct and enforcing California's consumer protection statutes on behalf of the public. He also oversaw a specialized Mediation Unit, helping individuals and businesses reach fair, out-of-court resolutions. This experience deepened his appreciation for neutral, principled dispute resolution.
Michael brings with him the values that defined his public service career, i.e., fairness, rigor, and genuine care for the people involved. He believes that what employees and employers deserve when workplace challenges arise is exactly what he spent fifteen years delivering in the public sector: a thorough, honest, and principled pursuit of the truth.
