Who We Are
Maier Law Group (“MLG”) is a forward-thinking, boutique law firm that specializes in preventative defense-side employment law services: advice and counsel; workplace investigations; workplace trainings of all types; litigation and workplace mediations; employee coaching; and select litigation defense. Our offices are in Marin County, California, but we serve clientele all over the state and beyond. Currently, we are all women and mostly moms (but open to dads and non-parents), and we mostly work remotely when we are not meeting with clients.
We do not merely espouse the concept of work-life balance—we truly live it. We value finding a sense of meaning, joy, and fulfillment in our legal practice. We enjoy one another immensely as people and work colleagues. At the same time, we are committed to providing our clients an excellent work product and outstanding service. We work fewer billable hours than a traditional law firm, but we take our work product very seriously and provide excellent service and advice to our clients. As lawyers, we make a good salary, but money is not our guiding principle—passion for the work we do and what we contribute to the world professionally and personally is our key motivator.
Whom We Seek
We seek an enthusiastic and experienced employment attorney to join our dedicated attorney team as a full-time attorney in the SF Bay Area. This attorney is licensed to practice law in the state of California, has at least four (4) years of experience in the area of employment law, and is exceptionally good at what she or he does. Once she or he joins our team, this attorney will advise clients on employment issues and conflict resolution strategies, conduct workplace investigations and trainings, and occasionally litigate employment matters. This attorney enjoys practicing law, but not necessarily in the typical law firm environment. She or he aspires to work on engaging and intellectually challenging matters alongside intelligent and compassionate colleagues. This position requires periodic travel to client locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Fluency in Spanish and workplace investigation experience are significant pluses.
Our ideal candidate is a cultural fit with our office: easy-going and a pleasure to work with; kind; has a strong work ethic; detail oriented; enjoys camaraderie with her or his colleagues; and is willing to pitch in on any law firm task. In exchange, this person enjoys very little micromanagement and a non-hierarchical environment where her or his opinion is always welcome.
Of course, our ideal candidate has graduated from a top school or worked at a top firm or both, but we are open to candidates who have neither, provided they have strong work experience and performed well in law school.
What We Offer
We offer an incredibly unique work situation with flexible hours that rarely go above 40 a week and the ability to work remotely and/or from home. MLG offers a health savings account, a retirement savings plan with partial employer matching, paid sick leave, a home expense allowance, and unlimited vacation for employees.
