Emily’s practice focuses on employment advice and counsel as well as serving as a neutral factfinder in workplace investigations. Emily advises employers on all aspects of California and federal employment law, including hiring, worker classifications, equal opportunity, anti-harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, wage and hour, leaves of absence, and employee separations.
Emily started her legal career as a litigation associate at Cooley LLP, where she worked on a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters and represented clients before regulatory agencies. Before joining Maier Law Group, Emily worked in-house at a non-profit organization where she counseled the agency on employment and compliance matters and oversaw the Human Resources functions of the organization. Emily’s in-house experience gives her a unique perspective when advising clients.
At Maier Law Group, Emily enjoys providing practical, business-minded advice, focused on problem-solving, risk-avoidance, and positive organizational change. She also enjoys serving as a neutral factfinder in investigations, which allows her to draw on her natural empathy for all sides and provide the participants the dignity and respect that enables them to feel heard. She completed the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI) Training Institute and is an AWI Certificate Holder (AWI-CH).
Emily enjoys learning about organizational cultures, leadership styles, and behavioral skills.
Outside of the office, Emily loves to travel, spend time with her family and dog, play tennis, and cook new recipes.
